it is a different animal, entirely

at night, the sun retreats in a fiery slow surrender
the curtain falls
the sirens call
the stars ignite

the city at night rips off its tie
it crackles, it snaps to the beat of the neon sign
the electro-glide

it hums to a different drum
it bows to a different sun

the city at night is nothing like
the world we walk by day

at night, I roam the streets, anonymous
and catch a flash, snatch a glimpse
of tiny, true perfection
