Now me and my cat Walker
We own the whole damn town
Cuz the big storm came
And took everything down
Everyone around has fled
To Baton Rouge it seems
Texas, Mississippi
Detroit and Milwaukee
The heat is bad, the smell is worse
I lay sleepless in my bed
The quiet it can kill you
If you ain't already dead
Everything is dark here in Katrinaville
Seems like there ain't a soul left in this place
And I wander like a ghost here in Katrinaville
Not much to do right now but sit and wait
The water from Lake Ponchartrain
Came rushin' thru the streets
We watched it all on CNN
On hotel room TVs
The talking heads told the tale
Of looting in the streets
Murder at the Superdome
And homeless refugees
Prayin’ on their rooftops
For help that never came
A thousand people, maybe more
Wouldn't make it...
Yeah, everything is dark there in Katrinaville
Seems like there ain't a soul left in the place
And I wonder what I'll find back in Katrinaville
Not much to do right now but sit and wait
